Ar. Neelam Manjunath, Managing trustee, CGBMT presented a paper on "Contemporary Bamboo Architecture in India and its Acceptability and Skill development" at the World Bamboo Congress 2015, Damyang, South Korea. The paper charted the various traditional typologies of bamboo buildings in India and their evolution through time to the present, influenced by the new interest, research and development in the material globally. It also discussed the issues that have been hindering the acceptability of bamboo as a preferred material for modern architecture, as also the strengths that will enable us toemerge as a major contributor to the bamboo building sector in the future.
