Seminar On Bamboo For Integrated Development At IISc Bangalore

CGBMT organized a seminar on “Bamboo for Integrated Development”, at Choksi Hall, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in collaboration with KSCST, Karnataka State Center for Science and Technology. The seminar, which was the last pilot seminar conducted for the promotion of BAT (Bamboo Application technology) courses highlighted the focus areas of R&D in the Bamboo Sector and its future prospects. It covered the use of Bamboo in Architecture, Industry, Plantation, Furniture, Handicrafts and Disaster Management.

Dr. Kamesh Salam, Former President - World Bamboo Organization was the Chief Guest and the Keynote Speaker. Other distinguished speakers were from IPIRTI, Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute, Bangalore, NID, National Institute of Design, Bangalore and Manasaram Architects, Bangalore etc who have been engaged in this field for several years. The seminar was an open-day event and was attended by architects, engineers and students from various colleges.
